A massive welcome to my website!

I’m a children’s author, educator and environmental scientist from Perth, Western Australia. I love children’s books! I love reading them, I love writing them, and I love to spread the cheer.

The first book in my Mars Duology, Mars Awakens, has been shortlisted for both the WAYRBA and the Aurealis Awards. The sequel, Mars Underground, came out May 2023. My debut book for middle readers The Lost Stone of SkyCity was shortlisted for an Aurealis Award, and my YA novel Evacuation Road was a CBCA Book of the Year Awards 2022 Notable Book.

Author bio

HM Waugh is a children’s author, educator and environmental scientist with a long-term love of wild places and outdoor adventures. She has been kidnapped twice, handled dragons for a job, and dreams of one day blasting into space. Her books mix humour, danger and friendship with a dash of science and imagination.
